Environmental & Sustainability Advisor – WS2SD

Bielby Holdings is an Australian owned civil engineering contractor with over 35 years’ experience delivering major infrastructure projects. We specialise in providing infrastructure solutions across road, marine, rail, bridge, resources and renewables projects. Most recently we have delivered significant upgrades to Australia’s major transport networks throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

As a result of continued project success, we are seeking a junior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor. As a key member of the Project Team, we are looking for an Advisor who is motivated to grow their career with a progressive civil engineering contractor. In addition, you will be responsible for Environmental matters associated with the project including but not limited to:

  • Facilitating the review and improvement of the Project Environmental & Sustainability Management Plan, associated operational procedures and risk registers
  • Providing advice and technical guidance in legislative, applicable standards, Client / Bielby requirements and best practice
  • Maintaining an audit and inspection program to monitor compliance of operational activities with management system and regulatory requirements
  • Providing coaching on management of at-risk behaviours
  • Completion of reporting requirements, monitoring performance trends, identifying areas of concern and providing recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Coordinating and monitoring completion of training and competency requirements
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of incident investigations
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and compliance with requirements
  • Provide support and prepare reports to achieve the projects ISCA responsibilities to achieve a score of excellent


We are seeking candidates who possess the following:

  • Qualifications in Environmental Science (or similar)
  • Previous civil construction experience (preferred)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Bielby, client and supplier representatives
  • High levels of motivation, integrity and accountability
  • Extraordinary skills in problem solving and innovation
  • Great influencing aptitude
  • Risk management capability
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development
  • Knowledge of or qualifications in the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia rating scheme
