The original level crossing was on the main Brisbane to Sydney rail line where it crossed one of Brisbane’s main southern arterials – Beaudesert Road at Acacia Ridge. Through a four stage process, Bielby built a road overpass on the footprint of the original Beaudesert Road, two metres above the original level crossing level, excavated underneath the new bridge and lowered the rail line into the excavation, 7 metres below its original level. This construction occurred while road traffic continued to flow unimpeded along Beaudesert Road and without impact to the train movements which continued to run on the Brisbane to Sydney rail line.
Acacia Ridge Open Level Crossing Upgrade included;
- Design and construction of a grade separation of the open level rail crossing on Beaudesert Road, Acacia Ridge

- Design and construction of a five-span 145m overpass bridge with 1,000,000m3 of fill moved off site to lower the rail line.
- Relocation of the rail line from the road level to the base of the underpass, 7m below its’ original level.
