Overview

Bielby Holdings, as the principal contractor of the Bielby Hull Q Birt Joint Venture (BHQ JV), entered into a collaborative framework agreement with ARTC for the Inland Rail – Northern Civil Works Program (IR-CWP-NP) which represents a strategically important ‘nation building’ initiative to significantly improve freight movements between Melbourne and Brisbane.

The scope of works includes

  • The design and construction of 162km of rail formation
  • Over 12 million m³ of bulk earthworks in greenfield (149km) and brownfield (existing alignment) (13km) locations
  • Over 30km of road upgrades and associated level and grade separated intersections
  • 31 rail and road bridge structures in excess of 10km in length
  • Extensive services relocation and protection
  • Installation of over 2,000 culvert
  • Construction of works over sensitive waterway and floodplain environments
  • Maintaining a genuine commitment to identify innovations and cost-saving initiatives early in the design process
  • Implementing leading safety, quality and sustainability processes and procedures throughout delivery
  • Engaging with the local community through the adoption of pro-active training, employment and engagement strategies that exceed Government requirements
